How Do We Trust Balimbings (Turncoats)?

Trust in turncoats, especially in politically-charged scenarios, is a delicate matter. In the case of the attorneys aligning with former President Rodrigo Duterte against Bongbong Marcos, their past affiliations raise eyebrows.

Case in point: Atty. Vic Rodriguez, once a staunch supporter and spokesperson of Marcos, and Atty. Glenn Chong, who sought political office under Marcos’ banner, and who once said Marcos’ landslide victory was a vindication of his loss in a close race to Leni Robredo in the VP race. Both now aligning with Duterte underscores the fluidity of political alliances. However, their credibility comes into question due to their opportunistic shifts.

The public’s trust in turncoats hinges on discerning their motives. Are they genuinely motivated by principle or personal gain? Skepticism is warranted, given their past allegiances and abrupt changes. It’s crucial to scrutinize their actions and statements, considering their previous positions and current alliances.

Ultimately, trust in turncoats demands a nuanced evaluation of their credibility, consistency, and integrity, navigating through the murky waters of political maneuvering and opportunism.
