P.I.: Slip Of The Tongue Implicates House Speaker (Video)

It seems in the fishy waters of Philippine politics, even the catchers can get caught by their own bait.

Lawyer Anthony Abad, supposedly a champion of reform and modernization through the People’s Initiative for charter reform, finds himself entangled in his own net.

Like a fish caught by its own mouth, Abad’s admission in a Senate hearing that he met with House Speaker Martin Romualdez, exposes the tangled web of interests and alliances behind the push for reform.

Now, the ball is in the Speaker’s court to continue to deny allegations that he was involved in the payment-for-signature People’s Initiative.

One can’t help but wonder if Abad, like a slippery eel, thought he could swim through the murky waters of political maneuvering unscathed. But alas, his own words have ensnared him and the Speaker, leaving him gasping for air in the spotlight of scrutiny.
