In a stunning display of digital acrobatics, Netherlands-based blogger Sass Rogando Sasot has unveiled her latest brainchild: “Code Red” – a seemingly ingenious plan to protect trolls and administration critics from the perils of fake news accusations and cyber libel lawsuits. Because apparently, in the world of Sass and her Tres Stooges companions, truth is best concealed behind a veil of obscure codes.
Perhaps inspired by the clarity of fire safety protocols, Code Red aims to muddy the waters rather than extinguish any real flames. While the Fire Department’s Code Red signals imminent danger, Sass Rogando’s version is more like a theatrical smoke machine at a concert – all show, no substance.

One can’t help but marvel at the level of paranoia that drives this digital charade. It seems Sasot and her cohorts are so afraid of the consequences of their own words that they’ve resorted to encoding their messages, turning political discourse into a cryptic crossword puzzle. As the Tres Stooges embrace Code Red, the rest of us are left wondering: Is it a smoke signal, or just the hot air of desperation?
