Paid Trolls: And The Survey Said…

The Adobo Chronicles recently conducted a revealing survey among 100 random Filipino respondents, shedding light on the linguistic arsenal employed by paid trolls in the digital realm.

The question posed was simple yet impactful: “What words or phrases are most frequently used by paid trolls?”

The top three responses, namely “Tanga” (stupid), “Bobo” (dull-witted), and “KSP” (Kulang Sa Pansin or attention-seeking), offer a glimpse into the dark underbelly of online discourse.

These findings underscore the prevalence of derogatory and inflammatory language used by paid trolls to manipulate public opinion and sow discord. The deliberate use of words that demean intelligence and question one’s motives reflects a strategy aimed at stifling constructive dialogue.

This survey highlights the importance of fostering a more respectful and informed online environment, as well as the urgent need for platforms and users alike to combat the toxic rhetoric perpetuated by paid trolling.
