Philippines Shows The World How Not To Protect Civilian Lives!

The UN General Assembly votes for an “immediate humanitarian truce” in Gaza, as the Israel-Hamas conflict raged for a 21st da at the UN in New Yorl on October 27, 2023. The nonbinding resolution, criticized by Israel and the United States for failing to mention Hamas, received 120 votes in favor, 14 against and 45 abstentions. Thousands of civilians, both Palestinians and Israelis, have died since October 7, 2023, after Palestinian Hamas militants based in the Gaza Strip entered southern Israel in an unprecedented attack triggering a war declared by Israel on Hamas with retaliatory bombings on Gaza. Oh, the Philippines and their diplomatic prowess strike again!

In a move that can only be described as pure genius, the Philippines has managed to abstain from a UN resolution aimed at protecting civilians in a conflict zone. Because who needs to protect civilians, right? I mean, why bother when you can get caught up in technicalities and legal jargon instead?

It’s heartwarming to see a nation prioritizing politically-correct language over the actual lives and well-being of civilians. Who cares about those innocent people caught in the crossfire in Gaza when there are semantics to argue about? Perhaps the Philippines has uncovered the secret to world peace: let’s just abstain from everything, and all conflicts will magically disappear!

And let’s not forget the icing on the cake – that tweet from Ambassador Teddy Boy Locsin. Nothing says “diplomacy” quite like practically endorsing the killing of (Palestinian) children. It’s almost like they’re trying to win a medal in international relations for all the wrong reasons. Bravo, Philippines, bravo!
