The Marcoses: Sibling Rivalry Or Theatrics?

Ah, the dynamic duo of Philippine politics, President Bongbong Marcos and Senator Imee Marcos, are at it again with their delightful display of sibling camaraderie.

Their latest public spat, this time over the People Power Anniversary holiday, is nothing short of comedic gold. The non-inclusion of the anniversary as a non-working holiday, despite it falling on a Sunday in 2024, has ignited the flames of apparent contradiction between the two.

One can’t help but wonder if this ongoing charade is a well-orchestrated performance to confound their critics. After all, it’s almost poetic how they manage to disagree on almost every national issue.

From historical revisionism to family legacy, these two seem to have an impeccable talent for taking opposing stances on everything. It’s almost as if they’re trying to keep the critics entertained, like a never-ending political soap opera.

But let’s not be too quick to call it theatrics. Perhaps it’s just a coincidence that their opinions diverge on virtually every matter, or maybe it’s a genetic quirk. Regardless, it’s a never-ending source of amusement for the rest of us in the audience, watching this sibling rivalry unfold on the national stage.
