MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It’s a fierce battle among three controversial film directors when three movies about Ninoy Aquino and Ferdinand E. Marcos open soon in theaters nationwide in the Philippines.
Actually, it’s a two-way race among the three.
The first race is between Vince Tañada and Joel Lamangan for their films, “Ako Si Ninoy” and “Oras de Peligro,” respectively. They battle for the title of most superficial film of 2023. It is expected to be a very close race. AsN chronicles the life of the late Ninoy Aquino while OdP tells the story of a family three days before Marcos was ousted through a peaceful People Power Revolution.
The other race is that of Darryl Yap against himself. It is a battle between his two films, the hit “Maid in Malacañang” and his latest, “Martyr or Murderer.” It is a race for the box office. Will MoM surpass the box office receipts of MiM? Stay tuned.
Let the races begin!
