Rappler Cries “Fake News” Over Media Trust Survey

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Facebook-designated fact checker Rappler is crying “fake news” over a recent study conducted by Reuters showing that the online new portal owned by Maria Ressa is the most untrusted media brand in the Philippines.

The survey, conducted by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism (RISJ) at Oxford University, indicated that Rappler is the second to the last trusted media brand among Filipinos, just one spot ahead of the tabloid Bulgar.

However, in terms of the most untrusted media brands, Rappler came in last, with 29% “don’t trust” rating.

Ressa asked that the report be fact-checked for accuracy. However, it was the other FB fact-checker Vera Files, that broke the news story.

So, the “trust” and “don’t trust” ratings of Rappler stand. As is.
