MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Many were outraged. Most were skeptical. And Senators were more concerned about ‘due process.’  But all in all, the dry run for the ban on single drivers during rush hours on EDSA was a huge success.

Traffic on EDSA was light.  Almost eerie.

But an analysis performed by consultants of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) showed that the easing of traffic was not because single drivers stayed away from EDSA.

Rather, married drivers made a detour.  They didn’t want people to know they were no longer single.
