MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – With the approval of the south line of the North-South Railway project, Vice President Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo is looking at mass housing for informal settler families (ISFs) living along railroad tracks.
Robredo, also chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), revealed a housing plan for ISFs as the railway project is expected to displace them from their homes.
But instead of relocating the families away from the railroad tracks, her idea is to keep them where they are and develop housing projects right next to the tracks.
She wanted the housing units along the tracks to look like the famous Victorian houses in San Francisco. (See photo).
The vice president has finally gone to work since she was appointed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to his cabinet.
