WASHINGTON D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Supporters of Hillary Clinton have taken their meme and hashtag, “imwithher” all the way to the former secretary of state’s nomination victory on Tuesday night, but U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan maintained his own meme of “imwithhim.” And no, he wasn’t referring to Clinton’s rival Bernie Sanders. He was talking about Donald Trump.
But Ryan wasn’t always with Trump.
Since becoming speaker, Ryan has been quiet and cautious about endorsing the Republican candidate, now presumptive presidential nominee.
Just on Tuesday, Ryan slammed Trump’s comments about federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel. Trump has repeatedly questioned the impartiality of the Indiana-born judge, whose parents immigrated from Mexico, in the Trump University lawsuit case he is presiding over.
Ryan said Trump’s comments constituted a textbook definition of “racism.”
But then on Wednesday, Ryan said he was 100% in support of the GOP presidential standard bearer.
Let’s see what he says tomorrow.
