MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – The Pro-Life Partylist is one of the so-called marginalized political groups seeking to field a candidate who , if elected, will represent them in the Philippines’ House of Representatives.
The Pro-Life Partylist makes no secret about its platform : preserving family values and promoting chastity.
So, in launching its campaign for the 2016 elections, the Pro-Life Partylist held a ‘condom-cutting’ ceremony to demonstrate the stuff their members are made of.
Political opponents, however, criticized the Partylist and accused its leaders of destroying expired condoms. “By doing so, they actually helped educate the public about the proper use of condoms — that is, disposing of expired ones,” opponents say.
Sometimes, political groups need some smart and knowledgeable advisers so that they do no incriminate themselves by looking stupid.
The Catholic Church as well as some members of congress have the same stance as the Pro-Life Partylist. In fact, in January, congress slashed a One Billion peso-budget for 2016 that was supposed to be used to purchase condoms for distribution free of charge, as part of the Reproductive Health Law.
Condoms. Condomed.
