NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – Sports Illustrated announced Serena Williams as its sportsperson of the year on Monday, and a lot of people are very upset.
They wanted a horse. Not just any horse, but American Pharaoh, horse racing’s first Triple Crown winner in 37 years. He won the magazine’s readers’ poll for the award.
Angered that their choice for the award lost to Williams, netizens across America flooded social media with a new hashtag: #horseslivesmatter. And it has gone viral.
Proof that in America, diversity and equal opportunity are esteemed values. Persons and animals, just the same.
