HONOLULU, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Michael Sam, Jr. may be the first openly-gay player in professional football in the U.S., but Hawaii’s Warriors are the first-ever, all-gay team in college football.
The University of Hawaii team players recently unveiled their retro uniforms which they wore during last Saturday’s game against Ohio State.
The all-white threads possess kelly green numbers with rainbow stripes on the shoulder pads and pants.
A white helmet with a green facemask and a 1980s rainbow logo will complement the Warriors’ throwback-style uniforms.
Unfortunately, gay Hawaii lost to the Ohio Buckeyes, 38-0.
During the game, members of the antigay Westboro Baptist Church picketed outside the Ohio Stadium in Columbus. “God hates fags,” read one protest sign. “Rainbows have no place in football,” read another.
