QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – During his second State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Bongbong Marcos broke his own record set in his first.
Marcos’s Monday speech took all of 70 minutes, delivered before a packed Batasang Pambansa (National Legislature). In contrast, his 2022 SONA was 73 minutes long. He beat himself a full three minutes!
But there is also bad news. During his first SONA, Marcos was applauded 90 times. That record slipped to just 68 times last Monday. Does this mean his audience liked his second address less?
Still, former President Duterte holds the record of delivering the longest SONA – two hours and 45 minutes – in 2021. With ramblings and all.
