MARIKINA CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Marikina Bureau) – Sometimes, a little bit of help goes a long way. But sometimes, it doesn’t.
This was what Leni Robredo and the Office of the Vice President (OVP) found out last week when they tried to come to the aid of flood victims in Marikina. Armed with packs of fish crackers and boxes of Choc Nut, the OVP team headed out to Provident Village in a show of force to assure the flood-stricken residents that help was on the way.
But alas, residents who were handed the goods complained that the relief package was incomplete. They were hoping they would get a six-pack of San Mig Light or a bottle of Ginebra San Miguel along with the fish crackers and Choc Nut.
One resident, who asked to remain anonymous, told The Adobo Chronicles, “ Bibigyan nila kami ng pulutan pero wala man lang kasamang cerveza o gin.” (They’re giving us appetizers but there was no beer or gin to go with it.)
Others took to Facebook and Twitter to air their grievance.
Sometimes, you’re damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.
