IN THE PHILIPPINES, THOUSANDS ALREADY LINING UP FOR THE iPHONE 6

imageMakati City, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – It hasn’t been quite 48 hours since Apple unveiled the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but already, thousands of Filipinos are lining up to be among the first to own this state-of-the-art mobile phone.

Online orders won’t commence until one minute past midnight on Friday, September 12 while Apple stores won’t strart selling the new phones until September 19.

Two authorized Apple dealers along Ayala Avenue in Makati City have announced that they will have the new phones in stock by September 20. Incidentally, Makati City has recently been named ‘Selfie Capital of the World,’ a title that Filipinos take great pride in.

As of six o’clock this morning, Filipinos have lined up, four-person deep, outside the Apple stores. The lines have extended for miles and miles, all the way to the MRT (Metro Manila’s light railway system) station in Quezon City. To get to the Apple stores in Makati from Quezon City, commuters have to take the MRT train at the Northernmost EDSA (Epifanio de los Santos Avenue) station in Quezon City. It’s about 13 kilometers or approximately 8 miles, not including the distance between the Makati EDSA MRT station and the Apple Stores on Ayala Avenue.

The people lining up to buy the new iPhones have only tripled the already long lines of daily commuters trying to get to work or school via the MRT.

It’s really more fun in the Philippines.

NAACP WANTS BURGER KING TO PULL ITS BLACK BURGER

imageTokyo, Japan (The Adobo Chronicles) – NAACP, the oldest and largest civil rights organization in the U.S. is demanding that the fast food giant Burger King pull the black burger from the menu of its stores in Japan.

The black burger consists of black-colored hamburger buns and black cheese smoked over bamboo charcoal, seasoned with black pepper and squid ink sauce. It is gaining wide popularity in Tokyo and other cities in Japan.

In a strongly-worded statement, the NAACP said that the burger, regardless of its taste, does nothing but perpetuate negative sentiments against black and colored people.  “We cannot allow Burger King to commercialize an entire race for profit motives,” the statement said.image

Informed sources said that because of its popularity in Japan, Burger King is planning to introduce the black burger in the rest of Asia, Australia, South America and Europe. The fast food chain is reportedly very hesitant to introduce the item in the U.S. because of increasing racial tensions and widespread political correctness among Americans.

Burger King has not returned our calls asking whether it will eventually add black fries to its menu.

CANCER STRICKEN PHILIPPINE SENATOR FILES BILL TO LEGALIZE THE MIDDLE FINGER

Santiago, Philippines' Iron Lady
Santiago, Philippines’ Iron Lady

Manila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Philippine Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago is often referred to as the ‘Iron Lady of the Philippines.’ She is not one to hold back on criticizing or condemning politicians who are corrupt or who use their elective positions to enrich themselves or propagate their political careers or dynasty. She is often mentioned as a viable candidate for president in the 2016 elections.

Unfortunately, she was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, forcing her to take a leave of absence from her Senate duties.  In the last couple of weeks, she had announced that 80% of her cancer is gone and that she is seriously considering a run for president in 2016.

For the first time since  her cancer diagnosis, Santiago returned to the Senate and announced that she was filing a new bill that would legalize the use of the middle finger against corrupt politicians. “As for the jerks in government, they are the reason God created the middle finger,” she said as she introduced her new bill.

“If my bill will pass, I will use my middle finger unsparingly to expose anomalies , corruption and stupidity that are so rampant and pervasive in our government ” she declared.

Will she become the new  Margaret Thatcher?
