PARK CITY, UTAH (The Adobo Chronicles, Hollywood Bureau) – Maria Ressa could bring honor to the Philippines if she wins the Best Actress Award at the ongoing Sundance Film Festival.
The Rappler CEO stars and was nominated in a new film titled, “We Will Hold The Line,” which chronicles her own journey from being a “war correspondent” to being an accused in several criminal cases in the Philippines, ranging from tax evasion to cyber libel.
Film Festival jurors, who spoke to The Adobo Chronicles — on condition of anonymty — said they were impressed by Ressa’s portrayal of a journalist fighting for press freedom amid what she says is a conscious attempt by the Philippine government to silence her by weaponizing the law to shut her up.
Best of luck, Ms. Ressa! Bring home the bacon — minus ASF!
