MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The wait is finally over! The Supreme Court of the Philippines, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) has just released its findings and ruling on the electoral protest filed by former Senator Bongbong Marcos against Vice President Robredo.
PET told The Adobo Chronicles that after a manual recount of the votes in selected pilot precints, it was determined that Marcos and Robredo each got the exact same number of votes.
”We can only assume that this is the same trend nationwide even if we continue with a recount of other precints,” a PET spokesperson said. “So, in order not to waste any more taxpayer funds and the precious time of the justices and all involved in the recount, PET has decided to call it a tie.”
In conclusion, the PET ruled that since Robredo already served three years as the sitting VP, Marcos should assume the position for the remainder of the six-year term, effectively immediately.
All’s well that ends well!
