MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – She didn’t have to make a speech or deliver a statement. All she needed to do was to flaunt her fashion sense.
We’re talking about Leni Robredo, the Vice President of the Philippines.
On September 25, 2018, Robredo graced the 88th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a Muslim country.
Cultural and religious sensitivity, as well as diplomatic protocol would have prompted Robredo — as a representative of the Philippine government — to dress appropriately on this occasion.
But she chose to wear a green lace, see-through dress which would make any Muslim — including Muslim Filipinos — cringe.
Muslim women cover up in public. But Robredo chose to bare her legs with her knee-length dress (the grayish slip – or was it Spandex shorts? – nothwithstanding).
