Pope Francis Excommunicates Filipino Activist Priest Fr. Robert Reyes!

C87934A3-E53C-4C14-8056-C874099BB20E.jpegTHE VATICAN (The Adobo Chronicles, Rome Bureau) – Pope Francis has had it with Filipino activist priest, Fr. Robert Reyes.

Reyes has been making headlines and footnotes since the Supreme Court voted 8-6 to oust Maria Lourdes Sereno from her post as Chief Justice.

The renegade priest has been leading protest rallies in front of the Supreme Court Building on Padre Faura Street, urging the Catholic faithful to go on a ten-day fast.  He has also set up a gaily-decorated coffin, simulating a wake and a funeral for Democracy.

In the Excommunication letter sent to the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), the Pope said that what Reyes has been doing is not only tantamout to sacrilege but is also an affront to the dignified and solemn nature of funerals.

“Henceforth,” the Pope said, “Mr. Reyes is banned from entering Catholic churches, presiding over the mass and other Catholic sacraments, or wearing the priestly robe when protesting in the streets of Manila. He also cannot use religious statues and sacred icons in his activities.”

Condolences are in order.

  1. PLEASE READ ADOBOCHRONICLES PROPERLY. Only the parts in italics are TRUE. Everything else is SATIRE.

“The Adobo Chronicles has recently adopted a new format to help readers distinguish between fact and fiction. Statements and paragraphs in our posts that are in italics represent the facts. The rest are fiction.”

  2. Tama ang ginawa ng ating Sto Papa, Papa Francis. The Church must not interfere in the works of our government especially when these are critical issues – mga ginagawa ng ating gobyerno against criminality. Most of the time, naging critical na ang mga pari sa ating gobyerno instead of extending a helping hand to our President in all his fight against graft and corruption, impartialities and biases in the full implementaton of the law of the land. Where can you see priests na siding with the relatives of the criminals na napatay ng mga police instead of siding or offering consolation and condolences to the victims of rape, murder, taking of organs of a person or child while still alive – where can you see these kind of animalistic behaviour of the criminals being condoned by our own catholic priests.

  3. Professing catholics who committed mortal sins shall be excommunicated ( for a period of time) and be disciplined, confess of their sins and repent before being reinstated back to the church. But the process shall be confidential though.

  4. I think the issue of Mr Reyes is to be saluted. We all know that like Mr Reyes, there are loads of Catholic priests who have the same viewpoints regarding Catholicism, but they have no guts to go out there and voice their views. Please watch the BBC “Jesus was A Buddhist Monk.”

    1. Wow .. just wow.
Being an activist and expressing your patriotism to your country is one thing but.
USING GOD AND THE CHURCH AS A MEANS TO PROMOTE YOUR AGENDA is absurd and if a priest does it it’s even more stupid.
